How I document Warrington installationsWhat is underneath matters
A beautiful finish does not prove a wet room was built properly.
Once the floor and walls are tiled, the important construction is hidden. That is why I put so much emphasis on preparation and documented build evidence: it shows the installation before the expensive porcelain covers it.
Ask any wet-room installer what is going underneath your tiles, how movement is controlled and how the waterproofing remains continuous at the vulnerable junctions. Those answers matter more than a glossy photograph.
How I approach the tiled installation
- The substrate is assessed before it is covered.
- Movement and rigidity are dealt with as construction issues, not hidden with grout.
- Waterproofing is treated as a continuous system, including critical floor-to-wall junctions.
- Falls, drain area and tile layout are considered together before fixing begins.
- Tiles are installed with proper supporting adhesive coverage — not isolated pads and voids.
- Where plumbing or electrical work is required, it is carried out by the appropriate trade.
Real Warrington case study
Cracked grout. A moving floor. Then the tiles came up.
A remedial project started with visible cracking and movement. Opening the installation exposed isolated adhesive pads, unsupported voids and the existing waterproofing arrangement. The rebuild was documented through strip-out, substrate work, waterproofing, tiling and completion.
