Cookie Policy
What the site stores or measures, why it is used, and how you can change your choice.
Last updated: 23 September 2026
The short version
Essential technology is used to make the website work and remember your privacy choice. Google Analytics, Vercel analytics/performance measurement and Google advertising/conversion measurement are treated as optional on this site and are not loaded until you allow the relevant category.
Rejecting non-essential tracking does not stop you using the website, estimator, contact options or viewing project pages.
What is used
| Category | Technology | Provider | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | ptt_cookie_consent | Paul the Tiler | Remembers whether you allowed or rejected optional analytics and advertising measurement. | 180 days |
| Analytics | _ga and _ga_<container-id> | Google Analytics | Distinguishes visitors and sessions so site use can be measured. Only enabled after analytics consent. | Up to 2 years |
| Advertising / conversion | _gcl_* and related Google tag storage | Helps measure whether an advert or campaign led to an estimator enquiry or other conversion. Only enabled after advertising/conversion consent. | Varies by Google tag and conversion configuration | |
| Analytics | Vercel Web Analytics | Vercel | Privacy-focused website usage analytics. It is only loaded on this site after analytics consent. | No Paul the Tiler analytics cookie; provider-side data is handled under Vercel's service settings |
| Performance | Vercel Speed Insights | Vercel | Measures real-world website performance such as Core Web Vitals. It is only loaded after analytics consent. | No Paul the Tiler preference cookie beyond the consent choice |
How the choices work
Analytics and advertising/conversion measurement are off by default. If you want to allow either category, use Cookie settings in the footer and save your choice.
The site stores the choice in the essential ptt_cookie_consent cookie for 180 days. If the consent setup changes materially, the stored version can be invalidated so you are asked again.
You can change the choices at any time using Cookie settings in the footer. If you withdraw a category that was already active, the site removes the first-party Google tracking cookies it can access and reloads the page so the optional scripts are no longer active.
Google measurement
Google Analytics is used to understand website usage. Google Tag Manager and Google advertising/conversion measurement are used to understand whether advertising leads to meaningful estimator activity. The estimator events sent for advertising measurement are limited to non-personal fields such as the project type, source page, page path and indicative estimate amount; names, email addresses, phone numbers, postcodes, messages and photo filenames are not included in those events.
Browser controls
You can also delete or block cookies using your browser settings. Blocking all cookies may remove the saved privacy choice, so the site may ask you again on a later visit.
