Privacy Policy

A plain-English explanation of what information I collect, why I use it and the choices you have.

Who is responsible for your information?

Paul the Tiler is a sole-trader wall and floor tiling business based in Warrington, Cheshire. For data-protection purposes, Paul the Tiler is the controller of personal information collected through this website and in connection with enquiries and jobs.

Questions about privacy can be sent to paul@paulthetiler.co.uk or by calling 01925 899 755.

Information I may collect

When you make an enquiry or use the estimator, I may receive your name, email address, phone number, postcode, project details, measurements, answers, messages and photographs you choose to provide.

If work goes ahead, I may also keep quote, booking, job, invoice and payment records, together with notes needed to carry out the work and deal with any later query about it.

The website may also process technical information such as pages visited, device/browser information, referrer information and estimator conversion events. Optional analytics and advertising measurement only run after the relevant privacy choice has been allowed.

Why I use it

Enquiry and estimator information is used to answer your request, assess the work, prepare a price, arrange a visit or booking and take steps you ask for before entering into a contract.

Customer, job, invoice and payment records are used to perform the work, administer the business, keep accounting and tax records, handle payments, deal with guarantees or disputes, and meet legal obligations.

I may use limited records for the legitimate interests of running and protecting the business, for example preventing abuse, keeping an audit trail and resolving a customer query. Optional analytics and Google advertising/conversion measurement are used on the basis of your consent where consent is required.

Project photographs

Photographs you send for an enquiry are used to assess the project and communicate with you. Job photographs may also be kept as part of the installation or job record. I will not deliberately publish customer-identifying information as marketing material without an appropriate basis to do so.

Who information may be shared with

I do not sell your personal information. I use service providers where needed to run the business and website. These can include Vercel for website hosting and performance services, Supabase for data storage, Resend for transactional email, GoCardless for supported payment services, and Google for analytics or advertising measurement when you have allowed the relevant optional tracking.

Information may also be shared with professional advisers, accountants, insurers, payment providers or public authorities where that is reasonably necessary or legally required. Some service providers may process information outside the UK; where that happens, the provider is expected to use the safeguards required by applicable data-protection law.

How long information is kept

Enquiries and quotes that do not become jobs are normally kept for up to 24 months so I can answer follow-up questions and understand previous pricing discussions.

Customer, job, invoice and payment records are normally kept for up to six years after completion/payment, or longer where necessary for tax, accounting, insurance, legal claims or a continuing guarantee issue.

Website analytics and advertising data is retained according to the settings and retention periods of the relevant provider. Your cookie preference is stored on your device for 180 days unless you change or clear it sooner.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law can give you rights to ask for access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or withdrawal of consent. These rights are not absolute in every situation, for example where records must be kept for tax or legal reasons.

To make a request, contact me using the details above. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office if you believe your information has been handled improperly.

Cookies and tracking choices

The website uses a privacy-choice cookie and, if you allow them, analytics and advertising/conversion technologies. See the Cookie Policy for the current categories, providers and controls.

Changes to this policy

This page will be updated if the way the website or business handles personal information changes materially. The date at the top shows the current version.
