Single large format porcelain tile installed as a seamless cooker splashback in a tight kitchen alcove. Precision scribing and full adhesive coverage to achieve a clean, trim-free finish.
From substrate condition through to the finished result.
Existing tiles removed — wall stripped back to bare substrate
Tile marked out before any cutting — vein direction agreed with the customer
Tile in place mid-installation — L-shaped relief cuts allow it to sit flush on the worktop, silicone joints to both sides
Single tile, no trims — tight scribe to the uneven walls on both sides
This large format splashback installation in Mobberley required a high level of precision due to the tight alcove and uneven wall surfaces. Rather than using multiple smaller tiles or trims, the decision was made to install a single porcelain tile, carefully cut and scribed to fit perfectly within the space. Large format tiles demand proper preparation and full adhesive coverage to avoid future issues, so both the wall and tile were back buttered to ensure a solid bond. The result is a clean, modern finish that enhances the kitchen while maintaining long-term durability. Projects like this highlight the importance of preparation, planning, and attention to detail — especially when working with large format materials in visible areas.
